My 19 year old daughter has had her eye on these for quite some time so I finally decided to splurge and buy these for her. I love purchasing products from Novica. In association with National Geographic, they make a difference by helping artisans around the world. These hand crafted shield earrings were made by hand in Central Borneo. The photographs do not adequately convey the incredible amount of attention to detail in these earrings. The scrollwork and details are impressive.
These are not heavy but they are not lightweight. I would say they are a medium weight as well as overall size. They are comfortable to wear and a noticeable but manageable size.
These earrings come in an attractive fabric pouch along with a lovely Novica card which describes them.
The card says, “by Komang Wijayana – I love to create something from many kinds of materials. God gave us a lot of things that are already amazing to make into nice jewelry.” The other side of the card says, “Dayak Shield – From Komang Wijayana, these ornate earrings take the shape of shield once used by the Dayak people of Central Borneo. Sterling strands and silver granules cover the enchanting pair, and accents are bathed in glowing 18k gold.”
These are marked 925 indicating that they are authentic sterling silver. These are lovely earrings and I would recommend them.
Discounted sample provided. You can purchase these lovely earrings at Novica.
