I love the look of topiaries on either side of my front door. I have owned many. Some have lasted longer than others, but eventually, despite my best efforts, I kill them. The ones that have (temporarily) thrived required regular pruning. I am getting lazier over the years. Live topiaries are expensive. I decided to try fake trees this time because they are guaranteed not to die.

These arrived from overstock.com in two big boxes. They were easy to pull out of the box. They come in two pieces that slide together like a Christmas tree. Super easy. They do come in cheap plastic planters so another planter will be required to get the most out of these trees.

I planted each topiary in the existing planters on either side of my front door. From a distance (and even up close) they look pretty realistic. You’d have to touch them to know for sure. They look perfectly pruned all the time which makes me happy every time I come home.

To get these topiaries looking as they do in my pictures, I filled my planters halfway with rocks, planted the trees (in the pots that came with them) and then filled in the rocks around the base to cover it up. I bought the rocks from the garden department at Home Depot.

Time will tell how these topiaries fare outdoors. They are under a covered patio so will have some protection from the elements. I will update this review if I have any problems. For now, they look pretty great! I would recommend them.
